Analysis Of Tattoos On The Heart, The Power Of Boundless...

Wait For It Resilience is the power or the ability to return to the original form. â€Å"Resilience is born by grounding yourself in your own loveliness, hitting notes you thought were way out of your range† (94). Father Gregory Boyle says this because he knows that resilience is needed in order to change. Resilience is important because we can become better people by doing things, we thought we couldn’t do. In the book, Tattoos on the Heart, The Power of Boundless Compassion, Boyle claims resilience is essential in our lives because it is the key to do better. For example, in Chapter Four, â€Å"Water, Oil, Flame,† Twenty-three-year-old homie, Miguel worked on Boyle’s graffiti crew. Miguel was an extremely nice kid, whose pleasantness astonished people because, Miguel had been completely abandoned by his family. His family had rejected, mistreated, abused, and scarred him. He called Boyle on New Year’s Day to have a conversation, â€Å"Happy New Y ear, G.† Boyle had been curious to see what Miguel had done on Christmas, because he had no family to take him in. Miguel responded that he spent Christmas in his apartment with homies and former enemies from the crew. (87). Miguel told Boyle with pride, that he cooked a turkey. Boyle said â€Å"Wow, you did? Well, how did you prepared it?† Miguel told Boyle that he had done it the â€Å"Ghetto-style.† A few days after the phone call, Boyle gave Miguel a ride home after work.
